Cooking Together

Today’s adult children find themselves raising their kids and caring for their senior loved ones.  It is very common for those seniors to want to stay in their own home and keep their independence.  This leads to two common challenges: knowing when they need help to safely remain in their own home; and finding quality care.  There are no one size fits all solutions, however there are some common symptoms and characteristics to help determine when someone needs help, and some guidelines to help you find the right help for them!

  • Is this someone with a disability?
  • Does this individual need assistance walking?
  • Are family members far away?
  • Are you concerned for their safety?
  • Do they forget easily?
  • Do they have special dietary needs?
  • Do they need help with daily tasks? (Bathing, Dressing, Cooking)
  • Do they have frequent injuries?
  • Has their personal hygiene habits changed?
  • Are they having difficulty with daily chores? (Housekeeping, Shopping)
  • Are they having trouble sleeping?
  • Are they forgetful?
  • Do they require transportation?

If you found yourself answering yes to more than a few of the questions above, it is probably time to start looking for solutions that will work for your family.  There are many agencies available who all offer the same types of service, making it difficult for someone to know which one is best for them.  One of the biggest challenges is knowing what to ask when interviewing potential caregivers.  Here is a basic guideline that could help you make the best decision in choosing someone to care for your loved one.

  1. How long has your company been in business?
  2. Does your company carry Liability Insurance?
  3. Is your company licensed to provide home care?
  4. Are your caregivers insured and bonded?
  5. Do you provide backup caregivers in the event the regular caregiver can’t come?
  6. Are your caregivers employees?
  7. Do you run criminal background checks on your caregivers?
  8. What means of communication do you use to update me on my loved one?
  9. Do you have a minimum number of hours for service?
  10. Do you require a contract to be signed?
  11. Do you penalize if we break our contract?
  12. Do you provide free assessments?
  13. Do you do interim assessments and if so, how often?

Guardian Angels of Home Health has been privileged to serve the Bucks County and surrounding areas since 1968. Superior senior care is our number one priority!  Our team of professionals offer experienced and attentive care management.  Our caregivers are thoroughly screened, including criminal background checks, aptitude testing, and license monitoring. All of our employees are carefully selected for the right skills, aptitude, and personality to fit individually, the needs of the person they will be caring for.   They are bonded and insured.

At Guardian Angels of Home Health, our caregivers fall into four broad categories:

  • Certified Nurses’ Assistants (CNAs)
  • Home Health Aides
  • Homemakers
  • Companions

Because we employ each caregiver, you are spared the burden and worry of tax forms, improving the reliability of service as we become the ones responsible for fill-in helpers when the usual caregivers need time off.

Whether you are geographically close to your loved one or long distance, we will stay in constant communication with you, providing reports on your loved one’s care and condition.  We report on every phase of our clients progress or decline, so the family members can seek medical attention immediately when necessary.

At Guardian Angels of Home Health, there is no long term contract required.  We are licensed in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey for Home Health Care.
