Research shows that drinking tea can help protect us from serious diseases and improve our overall health. Of course adding sugar, cream, or milk means adding calories and that can negate the health benefits. So keep it simple.
Here are some ways tea consumption can keep you healthy and happy.
Diabetes – Antioxidants in green tea may help reduce glucose levels by blocking normal glucose uptake into the body’s tissues. One study in the Diabetes and Metabolism Journal shows that people who drink six cups of green tea daily are 33 percent less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than those who rarely consume the beverage.1
Parkinson’s disease – A recent study finds that drinking green and black tea can help slow the progression of Parkinson’s. In fact, participants who consumed more than three cups daily delayed the onset of symptoms of the disease by seven years or more.2
Depression – Just the aroma from tea can have a calming effect and improve mood. Research also shows that drinking 3 cups of tea each day can decrease the risk of depression by 37 percent.3
Tea consumption has also been linked to soothing an upset stomach, boosting the immune system, and fighting cancer cells. What are you waiting for? Brew a pot today!
